Job description

Remote Patent Prosecution Legal Secretary

Specialization: Chemical, Biotech, Biopharma, or Mechanical patent prosecution.

Location Requirements: Must reside in California, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, or Washington.

Experience: Minimum 2 years in each previous role, with at least 3+ years of U.S. patent prosecution experience.

Work Arrangement: Fully remote, with in-office requirements for those within 1.5 hours of Denver, Los Angeles, or San Francisco (3 days/week).

Hours: PDT Zone: 9:00-5:30; CDT Zone: 10:30 am - 7 pm or 11 am - 7:30 pm.

Compensation: $89,000 - $113,000, depending on experience and skills. Paid overtime included.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare U.S. patent applications, amendments, and legal documents for filing and reporting.
  • Draft reporting letters for review by the legal team.
  • Manage expense reports and coordinate travel arrangements.
  • Communicate directly with clients as needed.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree (not mandatory).
  • 3+ years of patent application filing and prosecution experience in relevant fields.
  • Self-starter with strong deadline management skills.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with document management software (preferably iManage) and IP management solutions (preferably Inprotech).
  • Availability for overtime as needed.
