Job Description

Exciting opportunity to utilize your patent prosecution knowledge at a reputable law firm as an IP Legal Secretary! This role offers the possibility of working fully remotely after training, but candidates must reside in the DC area.

You will provide administrative and patent prosecution support to the Firm's Electrical/Mechanical (E/M) Patent Prosecution Practice Group. The position reports to the Senior Manager of the Prosecution Practice Group.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Handle work associated with one of the firm's Chinese clients.
  • Support all aspects of patent prosecution, from preparing and filing new patent applications to prosecution through allowance and all related filings.
  • Maintain attorney docket to monitor PTO deadlines, client deadlines, and attorney calendars to ensure timely action.
  • Schedule appointments for timekeepers and organize, update, and maintain electronic filing systems for professional, administrative, and prosecution case files.
  • Prepare client reporting letters.
  • Maintain current knowledge of U.S. filing procedures and rules related to patent prosecution.
  • Stay updated on firm and client procedures.
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in an IP patent prosecution role.
  • Chinese language skills are a plus.
  • Experience and/or education in patent prosecution is required.
  • Proactive with the ability to anticipate attorney and client needs.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.

Salary range: $70,000 to $75,000.
