Patent Prosecution Associate - Intellectual Property

Salary: $250,000.00 - $400,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute US and international patent applications in various technologies including mechanical, electrical, and software fields.
- Collaborate with clients to understand inventions and technical information for patent applications.
- Conduct patentability and prior art searches to assess the feasibility of patent protection strategies.
- Coordinate with patent examiners at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to address any issues during the application process.
- Advise clients on patent application strategies and IP portfolio management to maximize commercial potentials.
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives to promote knowledge sharing and develop best practices for IP protection.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution with a focus on drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- Admission to a state bar and ideally registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality work.
- Superior academic credentials reflecting strong performance and potential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in international patent prosecution and IP law.
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a technical field relevant to mechanical, electrical, or software engineering.
- Professional certifications related to intellectual property or technology management.
- Previous working experience in a law firm with a robust IP practice or technology-based company.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
- Strong publication or patent record showcasing expertise in field of specialization.
