Job Opportunity: Patent Counsel in San Antonio, TX

A law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Counsel to join its growing team in San Antonio, TX. This role is ideal for candidates with at least two years of patent prosecution experience, especially in areas such as 5G, Wi-Fi, artificial intelligence (AI), processor systems, and RF technologies.

The Patent Counsel will evaluate the patentability of innovative technologies, draft patent applications, and collaborate with clients and legal professionals to develop IP strategies. The position offers significant career growth, including potential advancement to Senior Counsel.

Duties:
  • Assess patentability in areas like wireless communications, AI, image processing, and RF front-end
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for advanced technologies
  • Manage patent portfolios in collaboration with clients
  • Respond to USPTO actions and oversee patent prosecution processes
  • Provide strategic patent advice for portfolio management and IP protection
  • Work with researchers, inventors, and attorneys to evaluate innovations
  • Contribute to practice growth and assume leadership roles
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum two years of patent prosecution experience
  • USPTO registration or eligibility to register
  • Bar admission or eligibility to waive in
  • Strong background in 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor systems, and wireless tech
  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills
