Stinson LLP is seeking a highly motivated patent attorney to join its Phoenix, Arizona office. Stinson’s patent attorneys advise companies on every aspect of intellectual property law, including patent protection and strategy, enforcement and client counseling, and defend clients against claims of infringement.

The major clients we advise include companies in the following industries: medical devices; consumer devices; transportation; construction; agribusiness; sports and recreation; cannabis; heat, ventilating and air conditioning; infrastructure protection and repair; manufacturing equipment; and electrical and fiber optic connectors.

Responsibilities

This position’s responsibilities include drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, and software‑implemented business methods, drafting and reviewing intellectual property and technology‑related agreements and licenses, and providing patentability, freedom to operate, and due diligence assessments.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor, higher degree, or equivalent in Law
  • 7+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in the electrical arts.
  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, or related degree and/or work experience
  • Excellent academic credentials and excellent research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi‑task efficiently, and be an independent thinker.
  • U.S. Patent & Trademark Office registration.
  • Licensed to practice law in Arizona.
Compensation

Our attorney compensation structure has two components: a base salary and a discretionary merit bonus based on performance. The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $250,000. The range may vary based on experience and qualifications.
