They have extensive experience advising some of the world's most recognized brands and is known for providing sophisticated, strategic counsel across a broad range of intellectual property matters.
Their trademark prosecution and design patent practice is seeking an associate to join its highly regarded team. The group focuses primarily on trademark and design patent counseling, trademark clearance, prosecution, and maintenance, representing a diverse portfolio of leading global and consumer-facing brands.
Responsibilities:
- Trademark & Design Patent: Handle U.S. trademark and design patent clearance, prosecution, maintenance, portfolio management, and client counseling
- IP Strategy & Counseling: Advise clients on trademark and design patent protection, enforcement, portfolio strategy, and related matters
- Agreements & Transactions: Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements, including licenses and coexistence agreements, and assist with IP due diligence
- Client & Team Collaboration: Work closely with clients and colleagues to develop practical, commercially focused IP strategies across a range of matters
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience in trademark and/or design patent practice, preferably at a leading law firm or sophisticated IP practice
- Education: 2020–2023 law school graduate with strong academic credentials
- IP Knowledge: Demonstrated interest in trademark and design patent law, with a strong understanding of patent law; design patent experience is a plus
- Bar & USPTO: Member in good standing of the New York Bar and registered with the USPTO, or eligible to sit for the USPTO Patent Bar
- Legal Skills: Excellent analytical, research, writing, reasoning, and communication skills
