Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics in the United States seeks an in-house IP counsel specializing in pharmaceutical and life sciences patent law to support our asset portfolio from discovery through lifecycle management.

Location: Palo Alto or San Francisco, CA; Work setup: onsite/hybrid with no travel specified. You will manage global patent prosecution, lead FTO analyses, and advise cross-functional teams on IP strategy while handling adversarial proceedings.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with active U.S. bar
• Admission to practice before the USPTO
• 8+ years of pharma/life sciences IP experience, in\ntop firms or in-house

Job description

Role: In-house IP counsel specializing in pharmaceutical and life sciences patent law, supporting BridgeBio's asset portfolio from discovery through lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• manage global patent prosecution
• lead freedom-to-operate assessments, provide strategic IP advice to R&D, Business Development, Regulatory, and Commercial teams
• support adversarial proceedings including inter partes reviews and patent litigations

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school, admission to at least one U.S. state bar, registration to practice before the USPTO, 8+ years of relevant IP experience preferably in pharma or life sciences at top law firms or in-house
• advanced degree in organic or medicinal chemistry or related field is a strong plus

• focus on biologics or small molecules, early discovery through clinical development stages, strategic patent and exclusivity planning, cross-border patent proceedings, and experience with adversarial proceedings
