Job Overview
A well-established law firm in Fairfax, VA, is seeking an experienced Patent Agent or Patent Specialist with a minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution within the past 5 years. This full-time, in-office role provides an opportunity to work on both U.S. and international patent applications, helping clients protect their intellectual property while contributing to the firm’s reputation for excellence.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
• Conduct thorough prior art searches and provide insightful patentability assessments.
• Manage responses to Office Actions issued by the USPTO.
• Effectively communicate with clients, inventors, and examiners throughout the patent process.
• Assist with the development of patent strategy and management of client patent portfolios.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of patent prosecution experience at a patent law firm within the last 5 years.
• USPTO registration is preferred.
• Strong technical background in fields such as electrical or mechanical engineering, computer science, or related disciplines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
