Job summary

Diamond Personnel client, a global law firm, seeks a patent agent with a strong technical background to draft and prosecute USPTO patent applications. You will analyze technical documents, draft precise patent descriptions, and liaise between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office.

You will discuss scientific aspects of inventions with clients, stay current on IP law developments, and collaborate with lawyers to support litigation and due diligence.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of law firm patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
• Recent law firm experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Draft patent applications and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
• Analyze scientific or technical documents to assess an invention or issued patent.
• Draft detailed descriptions of inventions in precise legal terms for patent offices worldwide.
• Communicate with inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office regarding the patent application process.
• Discuss scientific aspects of inventions with clients and inventors.
• Keep up to date with developments in the intellectual property field.
• Work with lawyers to support patent litigation, perform due diligence, and support other legal activities.

Our client, a global law firm, is seeking a patent agent with a strong technical background.

• Schedule: Hybrid 3/2, or fully remote anywhere in the U.S.
• Billable Hours: 1,650
• Must reside in one of the following locations: Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington, D.C

Responsibilities:

• Draft patent applications and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Analyze scientific or technical documents, including previously published patent documents, to assess an invention or issued patent.
• Draft detailed descriptions of inventions in precise legal terms (patent drafts), which form the basis for patents to be granted by patent offices in various parts of the world.
• Communicate and act as a liaison between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office in connection with all aspects of the patent application process.
• Discuss scientific aspects of inventions with clients and inventors.
• Keep up to date with legal developments in the intellectual property field.
• Work closely with lawyers to support patent litigation, perform due diligence, and support other legal activities.
