Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking a Patent Agent to join its Patent Development & Strategy practice. The ideal candidate has a CS/EE background and USPTO credentials, with 2+ years of patent prosecution experience.

This role may be based in multiple cities, including Palo Alto, and offers a hybrid work arrangement. Draft and prosecute patent applications in electrical, computer, software, AI, and related tech, collaborate with inventors and attorneys, and conduct prior art analyses while supporting due

Qualifications

• 2+ years of patent prosecution experience.
• Experience drafting and prosecuting US and international patent applications.
• Registration to practice before USPTO required.
• Background in CS/EE with AI/ML, semiconductors or related tech preferred.
• Prior law firm or IP environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in electrical, computer, software, AI, semiconductor and related fields.
• Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to develop patent protection strategies.
• Conduct prior art, patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Support IP due diligence and portfolio management matters.
• Assist attorneys with client counseling and strategic patent matters.
