Job summary

Wells Concrete seeks a Patch and Finish Laborer to repair and finish precast concrete products in a production setting. You will patch defects, complete surface finishing, and assist with handling and cleanup of panels using hand and power tools safely.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Patch and Finish Laborer performs repair and finishing work on precast concrete products to ensure quality standards are met. This role involves patching defects, completing surface finishing, and assisting with handling and cleanup of panels in a production environment while using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Climb on and off forms, pieces, trailer decks, and work platforms
  • Carry materials needed for panel and product work
  • Use hand and power tools, such as cut-off saws, grinders, and drills
  • Apply knowledge or learn to use gas/acetylene torches
  • Operate company forklifts (training provided if needed)
  • Work with concrete, including pouring, leveling, and finishing
  • Operate overhead craneways (training provided if needed)
  • Learn or demonstrate proper rigging and safe product handling
  • Develop or use skills in sandblasting and water-blasting finish work
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a reliable, detail-oriented worker with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn skilled finishing and repair techniques. They are safety-minded, work well in a team environment, and can perform physically demanding tasks while maintaining quality and consistency.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • General math skills and the ability to read a tape measure and blueprints
  • Have adequate knowledge of the English language to be able to read pour sheets and set up directions, and be able to communicate with other members of the crew
  • Be an authorized forklift operator or be capable of learning the skills of operating a forklift
  • Be experienced in operating overhead crane-ways (Wells Concrete will train employees without experience)
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
