Preference given to nursing students graduating in May or December 2026 with a strong interest in a future RN position in the EDTC.
This patient safety companion role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in our Trauma 1 Pediatric Emergency Department, interact with our team, and demonstrate alignment with our values and mission.
Note: No guarantee of future RN position, but we promote from within.
Preference will be given to candidates with patient care experience outside of school, such as hospital or EMS settings.
Requires a minimum of one 8-hour PM shift per week, including some weeknights and weekends. Candidates must be able to commit to this schedule during school. Additional hours may be available but are not guaranteed.
Target start date: 6-9-25. If hired, attendance at a New Hire Welcome session on this date is REQUIRED. If you have classes on Mondays, please arrange with your school to accommodate this.
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, provides supervision to assigned patients, ensuring safety through surveillance and basic interventions. Performs activities demonstrated through the Patient Safety Companion (PSC) skills checklist. Requires a High School diploma, GED, HSED, or equivalent experience. Must have effective interpersonal and communication skills to interact courteously with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Basic assessment and analytical skills for patient observations. Knowledge of computer use. Good sight, hearing, and speech. Ability to sit and stay alert for extended periods. Ability to stand and/or walk up to 50% of the time.
