Knowledge: Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology, contract reimbursement and methodology, and governing agencies for healthcare (i.e., HIPAA, EMTALA, Medicare). Basic arithmetic and math skills are required.

  • JOB SUMMARY
  • Responsible for patient pre-registration, registration, admission, and/or order entry at designated locations such as BMH Outpatient, Emergency Department (ED), or ETMG Ancillary. Ensures account accuracy, processes point-of-service (POS) collections, and attaches insurance authorizations to accounts when applicable. Communicates these needs effectively to relevant personnel. Provides excellent customer service aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and standards.
  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • Education and/or experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Some college preferred. Experience in customer service, healthcare clerical work, or public relations is preferred. Proficiency with Windows-based systems, email, and websites is required. Experience with ADT/EMR systems and scheduling/ordering systems is a plus.
Skills: Intermediate computer and data entry skills with high accuracy, including a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills that reflect organizational standards. Attention to detail with excellent oral and written communication, active listening skills, and basic mathematical skills including percentage calculations and use of a 10-key calculator.

Abilities: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Self-motivated with the ability to work directly with patients across Patient Access without a fixed workstation. Capable of reading and interpreting provider orders and documentation. Able to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment, working independently or as part of a team. Flexibility to work some weekends and holidays as needed.
