Qualifications

Responsibilities
  1. Assists the 1st Pastry Cook with food preparation.
  2. Demonstrates hands-on approach to all bakery products produced in the Pastry Department ensuring quality, presentation and consistency standards meet company standards.
  3. Assists with the development of standardized recipes for all menu items.
  4. Ensures that recipes are accurate and updated as needed.
  5. Ensures that all food products prepared meet the established specifications and standards.
  6. Responsible for complete set up, cleanliness and organization of the Pastry station before every shift.
  7. Seeks to maintain knowledge of industry trends in the world of pastry and baking.
  8. Bakes fresh pastries, desserts and breads for the restaurant.
  9. Prepares stations properly and on time for each service period.
  10. Ensures freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
  11. Weights, measures, and mixes ingredients according to recipes.
  12. Estimates anticipated food consumption, orders or requisitions supplies, or retrieves food from storage.
  13. Consults with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs.
  14. Keeps records and accounts.
  15. Understands the impact of kitchen operation on the overall property financial goals and objectives.
  16. Follows all company safety and security policies and procedures; reports accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the supervisor.
  17. Completes safety training and certifications.
  18. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with others, supports the team to reach common goals, listens and responds appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  19. Ensures uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintains confidentiality of proprietary information.
  20. Performs other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications
  1. Hospitality oriented.
  2. Previous experience as a pastry cook or in a similar role in a hotel or restaurant (Min. 2 years).
  3. Pastry certifications preferred.
  4. Technical pastry knowledge.
  5. Able to handle difficult situations effectively.
  6. Able to work quickly and efficiently, especially under pressure.
  7. Must be able to bend, squat, stretch, stand for 2-3 hours at a time, and lift weights up to 50 pounds.
  8. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  9. Should work well under pressure, even with minimal supervision.
  10. Bilingual (Spanish and English).
