Job description

Sugar, Spice, and Hill Country Skies

Picture this: dawn breaks over Lake LBJ, the Texas Hill Country hums with cicadas and ambition, and somewhere inside a sun-drenched kitchen, something extraordinary is rising in the oven. That’s where you come in.

This isn’t just a pastry gig. It’s a canvas. A stage. A 17,000-acre playground of granite hills, championship fairways, and shimmering water where your croquembouche meets the horizon and your tempered chocolate catches the Texas light just right.

The Sizzle

We’re not asking you to bake cookies. We’re asking you to build moments — the kind guests remember long after the plates are cleared. Think architectural tarts. Think whimsical petit fours that make grown executives giggle. Think banquet tables that look like art installations, because that’s exactly what they are.

You’ll work alongside a culinary team that treats flour like couture fabric and sugar like liquid gold. Precision meets imagination here. Structure meets soul.

Why Horseshoe Bay?

Because this isn’t just a resort — it’s a legend in the Hill Country, perched on Lake LBJ, an hour from Austin’s weirdness and wonder. Here, golf carts glide past wildflowers, sunsets ignite the lake in amber, and the air smells like cedar and possibility. It’s the kind of place where creative people come to recharge — and where you’ll come to create.

What You Bring to the Table
  • At least 18 years of life experience (and counting)
  • Four years in the culinary trenches — pastry, food and beverage, or related artistry
  • A valid Food Handler Certification
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • An eye for detail sharp enough to pipe a perfect rosette blindfolded (figuratively — please wear safety glasses)
Bonus Points For
  • A degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or something equally delicious
  • Two years of pastry or culinary experience refining your craft
  • OSHA Hazard Communication training
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • A mastery of pastry technique and the quiet art of patience (laminated dough waits for no one)
  • An instinct for flavor, texture, and visual drama
  • The stamina to stand, lift, and hustle through a fast-paced, high-stakes kitchen
  • A collaborative spirit — because great desserts, like great teams, are built together
What’s In It for You
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Associate housing and shuttle service
  • Weekly meal subsidies
  • Golf and resort amenity privileges*
  • Discounts across 100+ Crescent Hotels & Resorts properties nationwide
  • A Manager-in-Training Program for those dreaming bigger
  • Associate events that feel more like celebrations than obligations
  • Privileges based on occupancy and business levels.
The Final Word

If you believe dessert is the final punctuation mark on an unforgettable evening — the exclamation point after a perfect meal — then Horseshoe Bay Resort wants your talent, your creativity, and your commitment to excellence. Come bake brilliance into the Hill Country.
