Job summary

New Pioneer Food Co-op in North Liberty is seeking a Pastry Baker to support daily pastry production and help craft high quality, fresh pastries for retail, deli, and catering.

You will prepare and bake items from recipes, scale ingredients by weight and volume, rotate and store products, maintain sanitation, and assist in basic cake decorating while meeting production deadlines and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in pastry baking or food service preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes, scale ingredients, and production deadlines.
• Willingness to learn recipe scaling and basic decorating.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake pastry items following recipes, prep lists, and production deadlines.
• Accurately scale pastry recipes and measure dry and liquid ingredients by weight and volume.
• Prepare batters, mixes, fruit fillings, and custards, and support baking of specialty cakes, pies, and pastries.
• Support basic cake decorating and lettering following New Pioneer standards.
• Rotate and store prepared and received items to maintain quality, freshness, and health code compliance.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, ovens, walk-ins, and storage areas.
• Complete pre-pack items with fresh and accurately labeled product.
