Job summary

City Line Church in Philadelphia is seeking a Pastoral Intern for one year, part-time (15 hours/week). Reporting to the lead pastor and church session, the intern will grow in shepherding, teaching, preaching, and children’s ministry administration while aligning with core values and mission.

The role emphasizes spiritual maturity, confidentiality, accountability, and biblical teaching; education in theology is either in progress or completed, with opportunities to grow in ministry leadership.

Qualifications

• Spiritually mature team player.
• Able to keep confidences and maintain accountability.
• Responsible and reliable to complete work in a timely and consistent manner.
• Ability to teach the Bible and theology and shepherd people.
• Proven track record of Gospel ministry and empowering others to lead in ministry.
• In the process of finishing or has finished theological education.

Responsibilities

• Preach four times over the course of the year.
• Oversee life group ministry under the guidance of the lead pastor, meeting with each life group team at least once (City Line currently has 6 life groups).
• Join the regular rotation of Children’s Ministry teachers.
• Participate in the worship service presider rotation.
• Meet with pastor once a month for discipleship and discernment of future call.
• Attend at least four session meetings over the course of a year.
• Attend weekly staff administration meetings.
• Test and evaluate personal calling to ordained pastoral ministry.
• Other relevant duties as assigned.

Position Description

Pastoral Intern

(1 year, part-time position with potential to renew – 15 hours a week)

Reporting immediately to the lead pastor, but also available to the church session, the pastoral intern must actively support the church’s core values, mission statement, vision and various ministries by growing their shepherding, teaching, preaching, and children’s ministry administrative gifts, abilities, and experience.

Remuneration

• This is a 15 hour a week part-time position at $20 an hour
• 20 days of paid time off including sick days (no more than 6 Sundays a year)
