Ararat Baptist Church in the Huntersville community near Jackson, Tennessee, seeks a pastor to serve as chief under-shepherd, feeding, leading, and nurturing the flock while communicating God’s Word and guiding spiritual growth.

The ideal candidate is licensed and ordained, with a demonstrated calling, maturity, integrity, and strong pulpit presence; the role includes pastoral care, staff oversight, outreach, counseling, weddings, funerals, and unity within the church and community.

Qualifications

• Licensed and ordained minister of the Gospel who adheres to the Southern Baptist Convention faith.
• Spiritual maturity, personal integrity, and Christlike character.
• Commitment to sharing the Gospel, making disciples, and encouraging spiritual growth.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build healthy relationships.
• Effective pulpit communication that inspires and motivates the congregation.
• Genuine love for and commitment to the fellowship of our church and community.
• Compassion and empathy for the needs of the congregation.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and vision for the church, including ministry planning and organizational effectiveness.
• Proclaim the Word of God through regular pulpit ministry and plan worship services.
• Oversee pastoral staff and provide direction for ministries and programs.
• Motivate, equip, and nurture the congregation through preaching, teaching, and spiritual counsel.
• Devote significant time to prayer and Bible study.
• Provide pastoral care and visitation to prospective members, the grieving, hospitalized, homebound, and those in nursing care.
• Provide biblical counseling and officiate weddings and funerals.
• Provide leadership in church discipline and conflict resolution, seeking reconciliation and unity.
• Participate in evangelism through preaching and invitations during worship and outreach events.
• Manage personal finances with integrity and without reproach upon the church.
• Moderate church business meetings when possible.
• Work with church committees in carrying out responsibilities.
• Lead the church in observance of its ordinances.
• Cooperate with denominational leaders and represent the church in civic matters.
• Prioritize family responsibilities and model biblical integrity, faithfulness, and Christian character in family life.
