Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL seeks a Pastor/Ministerial staff member to develop and oversee ministry to preschoolers, children, and students (grades 7-12). This leader will work with the ministerial staff, recruit and train volunteers, and engage families in outreach, discipleship, and fellowship.

The role includes coordinating Sunday School, planning programs and events, budgeting with the church committees, and supporting preaching, teaching, and counseling opportunities

Principal Function

Responsible to the Pastor for developing and overseeing ministry to preschoolers, children, and students (grades 7-12).

I. Responsibilities

A. Ministerial

• 1. Student Ministry (Grades 7-12)
• a. Oversee the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and events of the Student Ministry for the purpose of outreach, discipleship, fellowship, and ministry.
• b. Work closely with the ministerial staff and develop a Student Advisory Committee to oversee all facets of the Student Ministry.
• c. Offer guidance to students concerning spiritual, personal, and family matters, making referrals to qualified counselors as needed.
• d. Build relationships with parents and guardians of students.
• 2. Children’s Ministry (Preschool-Grade 6)
• Work with Children’s Ministry staff, leadership team, and other volunteer leadership to oversee the strategic development and evaluation of programs and events of the Children’s Ministry for the purpose of outreach, discipleship, fellowship, and ministry.
• 3. Discipleship
• a. Give leadership to the planning, structure, and evaluation of the Sunday School program.
• b. Coordinate discipleship, ministries, and evangelism strategies.
• c. Work with Nominating Committee in securing and training leadership within areas of responsibility.
• d. Plan and promote special events.
• e. Assist the pastor in preaching, teaching, and counseling opportunities.

B. Administrative

• 1. Work with the Nominating Committee in the enlistment of all Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry Sunday School workers.
• 2. Work with the Stewardship Committee in the preparation of the annual budgets of the Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry and oversee the finances of these ministries.
• 3. Coordinate all programs and events with the church calendar and other church ministries.
• 4. Eastern Hills Baptist Church is not calling this pastor to accomplish this entire ministry alone, but to serve as leader, enlister, motivator, and resource person for church members who assume leadership positions in the various phases of ministry.
• 5. Maintain regular office hours.
• 6. Participate in regular staff meetings and retreats.
• 7. Support and encourage staff members in their areas of ministry.
• 8. Accomplish other duties as assigned.

II. Spiritual Life

• A. The conduct, character, and Christian deportment of this staff member shall conform to the teachings of I Timothy 3:1-7 and to the requirements set forth by this church for its deacons and staff members.
• B. This staff member shall strive to be spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically strong.
• C. This staff member shall pursue holiness through personal Bible study and prayer.

III. Unity

• A. The faith and practice of this staff member must be in alignment with Southern Baptist doctrine as outlined in The Baptist Faith and Message.
• B. This staff member will support the vision of the Pastor and promote unity within the fellowship of Eastern Hills Baptist Church.

IV. Remuneration

Salary and benefits package will be based on the recommendation of the Personnel Committee and subject to the approval of the church.
