Marshall Lutheran Church seeks a personable, down-to-earth part time or full time Lutheran pastor who can work 20-45 hours per week. Requirements include delivering Law and Gospel sermons that listeners can apply to their daily lives.

General Responsibilities and Expectations

• Plan and Lead weekly worship services including
  • Develop order of service
  • Connect with organist or music leaders to select music
  • Gather and share congregational announcements/events/prayer requests and concerns
  • Develop, print and deliver worship bulletins
  • Develop seasonal events and services such as Christmas Eve, Wednesday Lenten Bible studies and Easter worship
  • Consuct regular Sunday services
• Participate in monthly/as scheduled church council meetings
• Conduct baptisms, weddings, funerals
• Facilitate and bring in new people to the church
• Provide pastoral counseling
• Visit sick or home bound members

Theology (Ephesians 6:10-18, Hebrews 4:12, II Timothy 4:3)

• Adhere to the Apostle's Creed
• Preach the Law and Gospel
• Motivated by the Great Commission
• Believe that Baptism and the Lord's Supper create and sustain us in faith and eternal life.

About our Church

Marshall Lutheran Church, Marshall, ND, is a welcoming congregation located near the banks of the Knife River on the rolling prairie of western North Dakota. We are a 94 year old church that is the center of a rural, ranching/agriculture community. We are located 90 minutes from the capital city of Bismarck, 90 minutes from the Theodore Roosevelt National Park and 20 minutes from the small town of Richardton which features a public school, agricultural commodity businesses, manufacturing, drug store, quilt store/coffee shop, dollar store, swimming pool, clinic and nursing home.

Our church became affiliated with the LCMC in February of 2007. We had been served part-time by a Lutheran Brethran Pastor who drove to Marshall from Dickinson, ND for 15 years. Our latest pastor served us faithfully for the last 5 years until his health declined and he was no longer able to serve us.

Our congregation currently meets at 8:30 a.m., buthas been known to gather for worship as early as 7:45 a.m. to accommodate a pastor's schedule. We are accustomed to traditional/informal worship services with contemporary music.

We have numerous volunteers that take care of things such as: Sunday School Superintendent, Women's Group Treasurer, snow removal and building and grounds maintainance.
