Emmi Roth, a leader in specialty cheeses, is hiring a Pasteurizer Operator in Wisconsin. You will train apprentices, standardize milk pasteurization, and operate HTST equipment while collaborating with the production team.

The role requires HTST Pasteurizer certification, JD Edwards experience, and strong communication skills. You may handle overtime and weekend shifts, ensuring food safety and smooth production in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Train Pasteurizer Apprentices and Pasteurizer Operators.
• Troubleshoot problems with equipment.
• Schedule whey and cream trucks and waste removal.
• Standardize and pasteurize milk for the cheesemaking process.
• Separate and filter whey.
• Clean the HTST equipment.
• Communicate with Head Cheesemaker, Quality Manager, and Production manager on product issues.
• Utilize the JD Edwards system for inventory.
• Attend staff and department meetings.
• May be required to work overtime and weekends.
• Report any injuries to supervisor or manager.
• Complete required training and adhere to ERU food safety policies.

Summary:

Standardizes and pasteurizes milk for cheese production. May receive milk for intake. Provide training for the Pasteurizer Apprentices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Train Pasteurizer Apprentices and Pasteurizer Operators
• Troubleshoot problems with equipment
• Schedule whey and cream trucks and bytec waste removal
• Standardize and pasteurize milk for the cheesemaking process
• Separate and filter whey
• Clean the HTST equipment
• Communicate with Head Cheesemaker, Quality Manager, and Production manager on product issues
• Utilize the JD Edwards system for inventory
• Attend staff and department meetings
• Actively participate on EOE Teams that improve workplace safety, reduce waste and improve factory efficiency
• May be required to work overtime if deemed necessary with occasional weekend work.
• Performs all other duties as assigned
• Report any and all injuries to your supervisor or manager at the time of injury.
• Complete all required training in a timely manner
• Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA)

Qualifications, Skills, Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• HTST Pasteurizer Certified
• Process flow knowledge of cheesemaking, prep, and packaging
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers
• Basic computer skills including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets
• Experience with JD Edwards software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with automated equipment
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams
• History of good attendance
• Excellent organization and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented nature
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• No travel required

The Pasteurizer Operator may have to spend up to 8 hours standing, bending, twisting, turning, using arms and hands for reaching, throwing, handling, and manipulating objects, lift items weighing up to 70 pounds (buddy lift if needed), need to climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other climbing devices, be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks.

Work environment

The plant floor is a busy facility. The Pasteurizer Operator will have exposure to a high level of constant noise that may make it difficult to concentrate. The plant conditions are wet and humid with occasionally slippery floors.The Pasteurizer Operator will need to be able to work with food grade chemicals required for proper daily sanitation of all equipment.
