Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Project Certification: Certify residential and multifamily projects under ENERGY STAR Homes, Indoor AirPLUS, Enterprise Green Communities (EGC), Zero Energy Ready Homes, and Passive House (Phius) standards.
  • Energy Modeling & Analysis: Perform energy analysis and benchmarking using industry‑standard tools; develop and maintain energy models in software such as eQuest, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, WUFI, and THERM.
  • On‑Site Testing & Verification: Conduct field inspections and diagnostic testing, including blower door, duct leakage, and ventilation performance tests, ensuring compliance with program requirements.
  • Technical Take‑Offs: Complete detailed take‑offs for building enclosure, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and lighting systems to support energy modeling and certification processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Review construction documents and specifications for compliance with energy efficiency and Passive House standards; provide feedback to project teams.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to resolve technical issues; prepare detailed reports and documentation for certification submissions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with evolving building performance standards, modeling techniques, and sustainability best practices; contribute to team knowledge sharing and training.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, architecture, building technology, or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Certified Passive House Verifier (Phius), including HERS ratings on multifamily buildings.
  • Certifying projects under ENERGY STAR Homes / Multifamily New Construction, Indoor AirPLUS, EGC, and Zero Energy Ready Home.
  • Performing on‑site inspections, including blower door, duct leakage, and ventilation testing using diagnostic testing equipment.
  • Demonstrable experience with common energy analysis/benchmarking and energy modeling software. Experience with eQuest, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, WUFI, and THERM a plus.
