Job description

Ettinger Engineering Associates (EEA), a leader in sustainable MEP/FP and civil engineering design based in midtown Manhattan, is seeking a qualified Passive House Project Manager to lead and coordinate energy-focused work across our high-performance building portfolio. This is a unique opportunity for a technical expert in Passive House design and verification to take a key role in delivering multifamily, mixed-use, and institutional projects targeting PHI or PHIUS certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute Passive House certification scope for new and existing building projects.
  • Lead PHIUS/PHI project documentation, modeling, and quality control through all phases of design and construction.
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients, design teams, contractors, and certifiers to ensure alignment with Passive House performance goals.
  • Conduct design-phase and construction-phase verification, including field inspections, blower door testing, infrared scanning, and performance assessments.
  • Support energy modeling using WUFI Passive, PHPP, or other platforms to inform and validate Passive House strategies.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals for Passive House and energy code compliance.
  • Train and mentor junior staff in Passive House methodology and quality assurance processes.
  • Stay current on evolving Passive House standards, NYC energy codes, and funding/incentive programs (e.g., NYSERDA, HPD, HCR).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture, engineering, building science, or a related field.
  • PHIUS Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) or PHI Certified Passive House Designer accreditation required.
  • 5+ years of experience in high-performance building design and project management.
  • Demonstrated experience with Passive House design and field verification on multifamily or commercial projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, air barriers, thermal bridging, and enclosure detailing.
  • LEED Homes Green Rater and PH Field Verifier preferred.
  • Familiarity with LEED, ENERGY STAR, Enterprise Green Communities, and NYC/NYS energy codes is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in WUFI Passive, PHPP, THERM, or other energy modeling and detailing tools preferred.

Salary: $75,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Location: 505 8th. Avenue, 24th. Floor, New York, NY 10018.
