Job summary

Eurofins USA PSS Insourcing Solutions is seeking a formulation scientist to advance prototype dosage forms for exploratory studies. The role focuses on oral, topical and intravenous formulations for feasibility and small-scale manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with drug formulation, pre-formulation, and characterization techniques, plus strong documentation and teamwork skills to support cross-functional projects.

Qualifications

• Experience with drug formulation and pre-formulation techniques.
• Experience with amorphous solid dispersions (spray dried dispersions or hot melt extrusion) and modified release tablet design.
• Basic chemistry laboratory experience (wet or solid state).
• Experience with laboratory equipment and mechanical aptitude.
• Advanced characterization techniques (Raman, thermal analysis, dissolution).
• Ability to follow procedures reliably and consistently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare prototype formulations for exploratory studies in in-vitro and in-vivo models.
• Develop oral, topical and intravenous dosage forms for feasibility studies and small-scale manufacturing.
• Measure key formulation properties (solubility, tablet hardness, disintegration, pH, isotonicity, color).
• Assess chemical and physical stability and performance using in-vitro tests (non-sink dissolution, precipitation).
• Identify potential stability and performance issues with prototype formulations.
• Develop protocols for preparation of formulations at preclinical/clinical study sites.

Job Description

• Preparation of prototype formulations (solutions, suspensions, tablets, capsules, powder blends, semi-solid dosage forms, sterile and non-sterile liquids) for exploratory studies in in-vitro and in-vivo models
• Development of oral, topical and intravenous (sterile) dosage forms for feasibility studies and small scale manufacturing operations
• Measurement of key active compound and formulation properties (such as solubility, tablet hardness, disintegration, pH, isotonicity, color, gelling tendency, etc.)
• Assessment of the chemical and physical stability of prototype formulations, as well as the performance of prototype formulations using in-vitro tests (non-sink dissolution, precipitation, etc.)
• Identify potential stability and performance issues with prototype formulations
• Development of protocols for preparation of formulations at preclinical and clinical study sites

Qualifications

_ The Ideal Candidate would possess:_

• Experience with drug formulation and pre-formulation techniques, and an understanding of drug candidate properties
• Experience with amorphous solid dispersions (spray dried dispersions or hot melt extrusion) and modified release tablet design.
• Basic chemistry (wet or solid state) laboratory experience.
• Experience working with laboratory equipment, mechanically inclined.
• Experience with more advanced characterization techniques such as Raman, thermal analysis and dissolution.
• Ability to follow procedures reliably and consistently,
• Strong computer and organizational skills
• Adept in Microsoft office
• Mathematical or Mechanistic Modeling
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptable, and a positive attitude
• Ability to learn new techniques, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

Additional Information

• The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am-5 pm
• May be requested to work on weekends, overtime, and holidays based on business needs.
