Party Chief/Surveyor - Primoris Heavy Civil - Madisonville, TX

Primoris Heavy Civil is searching for a Party Chief/Surveyor for our Madisonville, TX project with a start date of April 2025. This individual will be responsible to provide internal surveying service to ensure construction work complies with design drawing locations. This field-based role offers an exciting opportunity to work in land, bridge, and road surveying. As a Party Chief, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of construction survey data for our projects. You will be responsible for conducting surveys and measurements, collecting and analyzing data, and providing valuable input to the project team.

Job Description

Provide internal surveying service to ensure construction work complies with design drawing locations.

General Requirements

  • Practice safety rules.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Safe use of hand & power tools.
  • Report to and assist immediate supervisor.
  • Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
  • Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.
  • Must work well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to Travel or relocate to Midland, Tx

Functional Requirements

  • Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts (Ex: forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hanger and supports, etc.).
  • Provide checking of “as built” conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
  • Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
  • Provide quantity calculations as required.
  • Prepare documentation of surveying activities (field books) “as built” drawings and submit for approval upon completion.
  • Maintain condition and adjustment of surveying equipment.
  • Coordinate surveying activities with the assigned engineer to meet the construction requirements.
  • Accuracy verification of plan drawings.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to use all the surveying equipment and techniques essential.
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints and calculate shapes (geometric, etc.).
  • Perform additional related assignments as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill.
  • Two years technical engineering/surveying training.
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.

Physical Requirements

  • Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
  • Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
  • Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.)
  • Must be clean shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.
