Job summary

Primoris Pipeline is seeking a Party Chief to lead field surveying operations on diverse construction and infrastructure projects. You will supervise crews, operate a range of survey tools, and ensure accurate data collection while adhering to safety standards on-site.

The role requires 3–5 years of party chief experience, proficiency with Trimble/Leica/Topcon devices, and the ability to read and implement engineering plans in dynamic field conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree or certificate preferred.
• 3–5 years as Party Chief or equivalent in land surveying.
• Proficient with Trimble, Leica, and Topcon equipment.
• Strong ability to read engineering plans and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise survey crews, assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training and guidance.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors, and levels.
• Conduct complex land surveys, including topographic, boundary, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
• Interpret and implement engineering plans, drawings, and specifications in the field.
• Perform calculations and data processing to verify survey accuracy and prepare field notes and sketches.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders regarding survey progress and potential issues.
• Ensure all survey work complies with company standards, safety regulations, and applicable industry codes and regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered in the field.
• Maintain accurate and organized field notes, data files, and equipment logs.
• Assist in the calibration and maintenance of survey instruments.

• Strong understanding of survey principles, methods, and calculations.
• Ability to interpret and work from engineering plans, blueprints, and specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills .
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in various outdoor conditions.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and best practices.
