Job Description
This position will lead a crew of up to 2-4 craft workers, coordinating survey operations on new construction sites. The role requires detailed surveying and management responsibilities, ensuring survey control, safety, scheduling, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
- Coordinate findings with engineering and architectural personnel.
- Operate modern surveying equipment including GPS, Total Stations, Robotic Stations, data collectors and related software.
- Identify safety risks and implement precautions to eliminate them.
- Manage crew processes, scheduling, cost control, employee relations, and employment needs for instrument and rodman positions.
- Maintain daily and weekly statistics and timesheets.
- Prepare proper information for layout and grading, reviewing blueprints, layouts and calculated figures for errors.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years working as a surveyor.
- 1+ year of supervisory experience.
- Extensive experience using CAD technical software.
- Proficient in managing crew, time, and costs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience on new construction sites.
- Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance history experience.
- Ability to read construction drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturer manuals.
- Knowledge of surveyor processes for industrial construction sites.
- Organization and time management.
- Good problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to perform calculations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others and provide detailed instructions.
- Experience operating a Trimble S‑6 Robotic Total Station.
- Team player and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills with co‑workers and supervisors.

Reporting to
This position will report to the site supervisor and oversee a crew of up to 2-4 craft workers, consisting of journeyman, helpers, and laborers.
Physical Requirements
- Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
- Communicate effectively by speaking and listening.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolds using appropriate fall protection.
- Work in all weather conditions with proper PPE.
- Wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi‑vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel‑toed boots.
