Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking a Carpenter Foreman to manage a crew of carpenters on industrial construction projects. You will read blueprints, plan work, and ensure safety procedures are followed to deliver high-quality structures.

The role requires 5+ years of journeyman carpentry experience in industrial settings and 2+ years in supervision, with strong knowledge of tools and building techniques. You will report to site leadership and coordinate daily activities.

Job Description

Carpenter Foreman will manage a carpenter crew as they construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms.

Responsibilities
  • Must be able to read blueprints, sketches, or building plans.
  • Must have all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for positions (see below).
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must have Carpentry experience and experience working on an industrial construction project.
  • Must be able and willing to follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
Qualifications
  • Oversee and lead a crew of 1-15 employees & constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood using hand tools and power tools.
  • Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
  • Identify all tools required for tasks.
  • Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
  • Must have 5+ years working as a Journeyman carpenter on an industrial construction project.
  • Must have 2+ years of experience working in a supervisory position.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, plans, and drawings proficiently to perform duties.
  • Must have knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
  • Must be able to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed.
  • Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must follow all company and site rules and regulations.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
  • Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
  • Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
  • National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter.
  • Formal/Technical education.
  • Experience working with concrete and rebar.
Reports to Position

This position will be responsible for a crew of up to 5-15 craft workers. The crew will be a mix of a journeyman, helpers, and laborers.

Physical Requirements
  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
