Job Description: College Counselor

We are a busy private college planning company that provides tailored career, major, and college guidance to high school students. We work with students to explore careers and majors, select colleges, build resumes, edit essays, and apply to colleges.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage a caseload of students.
  2. Help students plan and define high school curricula.
  3. Design academic and activity calendars (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly).
  4. Assist students in improving time management, organizational, and study skills.
  5. Guide students and parents through all stages of the high school journey, including course selection, standardized testing, extracurricular activities, internships, leadership, and community service.
  6. Advise clients on selecting and finalizing university lists.
  7. Support clients through the college admissions process: essays, applications, interviews, scholarships, etc.
  8. Lead group admissions workshops and clinics for students and parents.
  9. Counsel current college students on transfer applications to four-year colleges/universities.
  10. Assist with and manage essay editing for college admission essays.
  11. Manage a roster of students for one-on-one guidance.
  12. Assist in client relations to support the organization's mission.
Qualifications:
  1. 3+ years of experience as a High School College Counselor or Independent Educational/College Admissions Counselor.
  2. Graduate degree preferred.
  3. Deep familiarity with the undergraduate college admissions process in the United States.
  4. Understanding of how standardized test scores influence admissions.
  5. Genuine interest and enthusiasm for guiding students toward a better future.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Self-aware, receptive to feedback, responsible, and accountable.
  8. Highly organized with strong multi-tasking abilities.
  9. Team player who collaborates well and shares best practices.
  10. The position is remote and seeks a long-term fit.
