Job summary

Equipment Depot Inc. in Fontana, CA is seeking a parts counter clerk to serve customers by reading catalogs, identifying replacement part numbers, and processing orders with accuracy.

You will discuss part options, demonstrate parts, and place merchandise on display while maintaining stock integrity across locations. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of related experience; ERP experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Read catalogs, microfiche viewers, or computer displays to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices.
• Determine replacement parts required, according to inspections of old parts, customer requests, or customers' descriptions of malfunctions.
• Receive and fill telephone orders for parts.
• Fill customer orders from stock.
• Prepare parts counter tickets/slips.
• Receive payment or obtain credit authorization.
• Take inventory of stock.
• Advise customers on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements are not available.
• Examine returned parts for defects, and exchange defective parts or refund money.
• Mark and store parts in stockrooms according to prearranged systems.
• Discuss the use and features of various parts, based on knowledge of machines or equipment.
• Demonstrate parts and functionality.
• Place new merchandise on display.
• Measure parts, using precision measuring instruments, to determine if similar parts may be machined to required sizes.
• Prepare parts for internal transfer between branches.
• Distribute internal shuttle shipment on incoming parts transfers.
