Job summary

Empire Southwest in Reno, NV, seeks a Parts Sales Order Clerk to assist customers by taking orders, processing PSOs, and providing quotations. You will know Caterpillar parts and manufacturers, handle mail-in orders, and use account lists to manage open orders and credit returns.

Additional duties include assisting the Parts and Service Sales Representative, pricing PSOs, picking/packing/back ordering, and cash sales. Safety and corporate values apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in parts, materials or similar industry preferred.
• Must communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers by accepting parts orders and processing them efficiently.
• Write Parts Sales Orders (PSO) and quote customers.
• Know Caterpillar and Allied products and manufacturers.
• Handle mail-in and confirmed purchase orders; provide quotations.
• Use customer accounts to process open orders and returns.
• Accept credit returns and after-hours calls; assist customers as needed.
• Perform additional departmental duties and process cash sales.

Job Summary

Assist customers by accepting parts orders and processing them in the most expedient, efficient manner.

Essential Functions

• Acknowledge customers. Set an example of good customer relations and intra-company cooperation.
• Write Parts Sales Orders (PSO).
• Know products sold and manufacturers represented.
• Receive mail-in purchase orders and confirming purchase orders. Make oral and written quotations to the customer.
• Use the customer account list when processing open account parts orders.
• Accept credit returns from customers.
• Accept after-hours parts calls. Build hoses for customers as needed.
• Works safely at all times. Adheres to all applicable safety policies. Complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist Parts and Service Sales Representative with all parts related questions or problems. Provide sales leads as they occur.
• Assist in all departmental duties. Maintain a working knowledge of Parts Department functions. This includes: Locate and price PSO's; pick, pack, back order, receive and ship a parts order; operate Parts Will Call; Accept Service Department orders; and operate computer terminal.
• Process cash sales.
• Works within and promotes corporate values.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities

• Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to assist customers and employees in a professional manner.
• Ability to develop knowledge and use of Caterpillar and/or Allied reference sources.
• Sales techniques sufficient for recommending additional parts needed.
• Must have knowledge of Caterpillar parts, customer operations, customer transportation methods and Parts Department procedures and policies relating to Parts Sales Orders and Credit Memos.
• Ability to develop knowledge of Caterpillar and/or Allied parts, client operations, client transportation methods and Parts Department procedures and policies relating to Parts Sales Orders and Credit Memos.
• Ability to develop knowledge of Parts Exchange components, Caterpillar and Allied product lines and applications, and parts related work areas and their functions.
• Ability to develop proficiency in using DBS, SIS, Antares, and other computer programs in the performance of the job
• Mathematical skills sufficient for calculating discounts, taxes, and parts quotes.
• Ability to maintain consistent attendance.

Education And Experience

• Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Prior experience in Parts, materials or similar industry preferred.
• Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
