Job summary

Hunter Truck in South Royalton, VT is hiring a Parts Outside Sales Associate to grow our parts business with existing and new accounts. This full-time role offers a competitive pay range and opportunities for advancement within a family-owned Peterbilt dealership.

Responsibilities include soliciting parts sales, visiting customers weekly or bi-weekly, logging activities in Arcadium, handling orders, and assisting with pricing and warranties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required; or 1–2 years related experience and/or training.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals and write reports and correspondence.
• Valid Driver's License required; must meet insurability standards.
• ASE Certifications preferred; Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist Certification preferred.

POSITION AT A GLANCE

Pay: $65,000 to $80,000/year

SUMMARY

Solicit parts business from assigned accounts and from prospecting new accounts through personal and phone contacts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Visits assigned customers on a regular basis (weekly, bi-weekly)


• Prospects for new customers


• Log all activities in Arcadium


• Process parts orders, advises whether status is stock or emergency based on customer needs


• Checks with customers to ensure that delivery date of non-stock items is acceptable before ordering and advises all internal people involved


• Obtains Parts Manager’s approval for any special pricing or special circumstances required by customer


• Follows up on parts orders to ensure that customers have been served properly


• Turns in expense reports regularly


• Update customer records to reflect changes to customers’ names, addresses, etc.


• Process and track warranties and credits for customers


• Attend training seminars, as required


• Acts as a public relations liaison for the dealership


• Handles basic maintenance of the vehicle including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean inside and out, and making sure required inspections are performed


• Advises Parts Manager if vehicle needs major repairs


• Maintains company laptop and cell phone


• Work in a team environment.

• Must be able to drive across county and state lines

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university preferred but not required; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Basic computer knowledge required.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

REASONING ABILITY

Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications preferred

Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist Certification preferred

Valid Driver's License required; must meet company insurability standards
