Job summary

Sonny Merryman Inc. in Virginia seeks a Parts Delivery Driver to safely and accurately deliver parts to customers and support the Parts Department.

You will represent the company professionally and provide excellent customer service on every interaction. This role may be full-time or part-time and requires a valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and the capacity to work with warehouse and service teams to ensure timely repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
• Ability to safely and confidently operate company delivery vehicles, including box trucks.
• Previous delivery, warehouse, automotive parts, or commercial vehicle experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently while following an assigned delivery schedule.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivery accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Parts Analysts, Outside Parts Sales Representatives, warehouse personnel, and other departments.
• Ability to safely load, unload, carry, and move parts and materials.
• Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and handle heavier or oversized items with appropriate assistance or equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and perform other physical activities associated with delivery and warehouse work.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company delivery vehicles and box trucks on delivery routes.

• Verify parts and quantities for customer deliveries and handle returns as assigned.

The Parts Delivery Driver plays an important role in supporting our customers and the overall success of the Parts Department. This position is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of parts to customers while providing a high level of customer service and representing Sonny Merryman in a professional and positive manner. This position may be full-time or part-time.

General Responsibilities and Tasks/Duties

Parts Delivery and Customer Service

• Safely operate company delivery vehicles, including box trucks, on assigned delivery routes
• Load, transport, and deliver customer parts orders accurately and on schedule
• Verify parts and quantities for customer deliveries
• Provide friendly, professional, and courteous service during all customer interactions
• Pick up customer returns, cores, warranty items, or other materials as assigned and return to appropriate location
• Build positive customer relationships and serve as a dependable representative of Sonny Merryman
• Handle parts carefully to prevent loss or damage during loading, transportation, and delivery

Warehouse and Parts Support

• Assist with picking, packing, staging, and loading customer orders as needed
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse
• Safely operate warehouse equipment for which training and authorization have been provided
• Pick up and deliver parts, supplies, and other materials for the Service Department as needed to support timely repairs and daily service operations

Vehicle and Safety Responsibilities

• Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspection of company vehicles
• Maintain company vehicles in a clean and professional condition, promptly reporting vehicle maintenance needs, damage, accidents, etc.
• Follow all company safety policies, traffic laws, and applicable vehicle regulations
• Practice safe loading and unloading procedures and properly secure cargo for transport
• Maintain a safe driving record and operate company vehicles responsibly at all times

The Parts Delivery Driver will provide our customers with accurate, dependable, and professional delivery service while supporting the daily operations of the Parts Department. Success in this role is demonstrated through safe driving, timely and accurate deliveries, positive customer interactions, careful handling of company and customer property, and a willingness to support the warehouse and Parts team wherever needed.

The Parts Delivery Driver should understand that each customer interaction is an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with that customer. The driver is expected to listen to customer needs or concerns and communicate that information to the appropriate team member so that we can continue to provide excellent customer service.
