Riverhead Hyundai Parts Counter-person Job Description

Riverhead Hyundai is seeking to hire a Parts Counter-person. This position offers a career opportunity with comprehensive training in the parts department, preparing you for a successful career. Join the premier Hyundai Parts Department in New York, renowned island-wide for our top-tier wholesale business. We are committed to training the right candidate into a master counter person with potential for advancement into a commission-based role.

Dealer experience in parts is a plus but not mandatory. Experience at Napa, AutoZone, or Advanced Auto Parts stores is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

1. Oversee the parts sales process from start to finish.
2. Stock new inventory deliveries.
3. Cover delivery routes when the driver is unavailable.
4. Communicate professionally with staff and customers.
5. Discuss customer parts status effectively and efficiently.
6. Read and understand parts catalogs for accurate lookup and communication.
7. Answer phone inquiries, provide price quotes, and share relevant information.
8. Review body shop estimates to verify parts and pricing accuracy.
9. Deliver high-level service to internal and external customers.
10. Pull and fill orders from stock, maintaining weekly stock checks.
11. Notify the parts manager of out-of-stock items or urgent shop needs.
12. Locate out-of-stock parts externally and submit emergency orders if necessary.
13. Ensure all internal parts requests are billed on service repair orders.
14. Handle payments from retail customers and obtain credit authorization when needed.

Qualifications

• Hyundai experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior auto parts sales experience is a plus.
• Motivated to improve in a dynamic environment.
• Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety and maintenance documents.
• Competent in calculating discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
