Riverhead Hyundai Parts Counter-Person

Riverhead Hyundai is seeking to hire a Parts Counter-person. This role offers a career opportunity with comprehensive training in the parts department to set you up for success. Join the premier Hyundai Parts Department in New York, renowned island-wide for our top-tier wholesale business. We are committed to training you into a successful automotive parts professional.

Opportunities for advancement: The goal is to develop the right candidate into a commission-based Master Counter person. Experience in dealer parts departments is a plus but not mandatory. Previous experience at Napa, Autozone, or Advanced Auto Parts is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the parts sales process from start to finish
• Stock new inventory deliveries
• Cover delivery routes when the driver is unavailable
• Communicate professionally with staff and customers
• Effectively discuss customer parts status
• Read and understand parts catalogs for accurate lookups
• Answer phone inquiries, provide quotes, and share information
• Review body shop estimates for accuracy and pricing
• Deliver high-level service to internal and external customers
• Pull and fill orders, maintain weekly stock checks
• Notify the parts manager of out-of-stock items
• Locate out-of-stock parts externally and submit emergency orders if needed
• Ensure all internal parts requests are billed correctly
• Handle payments or credit approvals from retail customers

Qualifications

• Hyundai experience is preferred but not mandatory
• High school diploma or equivalent; auto parts sales experience is a plus
• Desire to grow in a dynamic environment
• Strong interpersonal and time management skills
• Ability to interpret safety and maintenance documents
• Proficiency in calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, and measurements
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record
