The Parts Counter Associate is responsible for selling parts to all customers, over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone.

  1. Assist all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
  2. Inform customers of companion part requirements and ensure exposure to the full product line.
  3. Answer incoming phone calls and counter inquiries, providing price quotes and information as needed.
  4. Review body shop estimates to ensure correct parts are ordered and pricing aligns with the estimate when applicable.
  5. Pull and fill orders from stock.
  6. Notify the parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials needing immediate attention.
  7. Notify necessary parties when special ordered parts arrive.
  8. Pull orders, ensuring parts are tagged with customer names and job numbers.
  9. Follow department policies on special ordering and S.O. aging.
  10. Follow up on back-ordered parts and replenish inventory daily.
  11. Maintain prompt and efficient paperwork flow.
  12. Ensure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair orders.
  13. Verify will-call and back-order files weekly, returning items to vendors or stocking those not picked up or required.
  14. Receive payments from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
  15. Assist outside sales reps with their orders.
  16. Exhibit excellent communication and customer service skills, maintaining a professional image and demeanor.
  17. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  18. Strong computer and phone skills (Internet, MS Outlook) are required.
  19. Proficiency in CDK is a plus.
  20. Degree in automotive technology or military equivalent experience preferred.
  21. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
  22. Must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and pass pre-employment screening (background and drug test).
