The Parts Counter Associate is responsible for selling parts to all customers, over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone.
- Assist retail and shop customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Inform customers of related part requirements and showcase the full product line.
- Answer incoming calls and counter inquiries, providing price quotes and information as needed.
- Review body shop estimates to ensure correct parts are ordered and pricing aligns with the estimate when applicable.
- Pull and fill orders from stock.
- Notify the parts manager of out-of-stock parts or urgent shop materials.
- Notify relevant parties when special ordered parts arrive.
- Ensure parts are tagged with customer names and job numbers when pulled.
- Follow department policies on special ordering and S.O. aging.
- Follow up on back-ordered parts and replenish inventory daily.
- Maintain timely and accurate paperwork flow.
- Ensure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair orders.
- Verify will-call and back-order files weekly; return items to vendors or stock as appropriate.
- Receive payments or obtain credit authorization from retail customers.
- Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
- Maintain excellent communication and customer service skills, presenting a professional image and demeanor.
- Multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess strong computer and phone skills (Internet, MS Outlook); proficiency in CDK is a plus.
- Qualifications include a degree in automotive technology or military equivalent experience; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and pass pre-employment screening (background and drug test).
