Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Columbia, MO is seeking an onsite Service Parts Associate to receive, store and dispatch parts with accuracy. You will assist walk-in customers, handle transactions, and build relationships to upsell parts and services.

The role requires ability to lift 50 lbs, familiarity with Microsoft applications, and forklift experience is preferred. This position supports In-Shop and Field Service activities at Cummins Inc.

Qualifications

  • Significant work experience or equivalent training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, generating reports and ability to learn new systems.
  • Excellent customer service and professional communication.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and wear PPE.
  • Forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, handle, store, perform system transactions and dispatch parts in the local branch; check for damage and discrepancies between goods and invoices.
  • Carry out customer parts counter duties: greet walk-in customers, process transactions (cash, checks, credit cards).
  • Develop relationships with customers by phone/in person and upsell supporting products/services when appropriate.
  • Sourcing and locating complex parts requests using systems and catalogs to procure parts cost-effectively and quickly.
  • Manage stock levels, operate forklift, ship/receive parts, inventory tasks and related projects.

Job description

We are looking for a talented onsite Service Parts Associate to join our team in Columbia, MO.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Under limited supervision, follow established procedures and guidelines to receive, handle, store, perform system transactions and dispatch parts in the local branch, checking for damage and discrepancies between goods and invoices.

  • Carry out customer parts counter duties including but not limited to, receiving parts calls, greeting and assisting walk-in Customers, completing all paperwork and processing transactions (cash handling, check and credit card transactions).

  • Develop positive relationships by communicating with internal and external customers by phone and in person at local branch with the ability to identify and act on opportunities with Customers to upsell supporting products and services, as appropriate.

  • Support other parts personnel in sourcing and locating complex parts requests using various systems, catalogs and other resources to identify and procure the parts in the most cost and time efficient manner.

  • Perform other duties that include managing stock levels, operating forklift, shipping and receiving parts, warehouse activities, inventory management tasks, core processing or other parts-related projects/duties as assigned by management.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Requires significant work experience or intermediate level of knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, generating reports and ability to learn new systems required to do the job effectively.

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner, prior parts experience preferred.

  • Must be able to physically lift 50 pounds occasionally, wear required personal protective equipment.

  • Ability to maintain a neat and clean appearance in the customer parts area and parts warehouse. Forklift experience preferred.

  • This onsite role will primarily support In-Shop and Field Service Department.

Compensation and Benefits Base

Salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses, Certifications:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations. A Class E license to drive Company vehicles is needed in the event parts need to be picked up or delivered. In the event candidate does not currently have a class E license it should be obtained within 3 Months, Proficiency in Microsoft applications, generating reports, and advanced level computer skills.

Experience:

Requires some work experience or intermediate level of knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

A Class E license to drive Company vehicles is needed in the event parts need to be picked up or delivered. In the event candidate does not currently have a class E license it should be obtained within 3 Months
