As a Parts Advisor at Martin Equipment, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining our parts stock and ensuring timely delivery of equipment parts to shop mechanics, customers, and other Martin locations. The ideal candidate will possess the potential to grow into a future leader, taking on increasing levels of responsibility.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Customer Interaction: Handle inquiries about replacement parts and availability, providing exceptional service and support.
  • Inventory Management: Keep the department organized, ensuring parts are easily accessible and stored safely.
  • Location Support: Assist your co-workers at the other eight stores in locating necessary parts, fostering teamwork and collaboration.

Position Details

  • Shift: Day shift, Monday through Friday
  • Overtime: Paid for any workday exceeding eight hours
  • Saturdays: Some may be required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supply Parts: Provide technicians with parts from inventory.
  • Customer Support: Look up parts and answer questions.
  • Order Fulfillment: Order or pull parts as needed.
  • Hydraulic Hose Creation: Make hydraulic hoses.
  • Stock Management: Put away daily stock orders.
  • Branch Assistance: Help branches find parts.
  • Inventory Organization: Maintain order and safety.
  • Documentation: Handle purchase orders, invoices, and returns.
  • Inventory Control: Manage parts inventory.
  • Policy Adherence: Follow company policies.
  • Safety Compliance: Support the safety program.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend store meetings.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Assist as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: Skilled in using Microsoft Office for email and Internet for product searching and data entry.
  • Office Equipment Knowledge: Basic understanding of office machines, including copier, fax, and printer.
  • Construction Parts Experience: Previous experience in construction parts is a plus.
  • Customer Service Passion: A strong passion for parts, assisting customers, and doing a good job is preferred.

  • Listening and Handwriting: Good listening skills and legible handwriting.
  • Task Management: Ability to prioritize and organize tasks with a sense of urgency and within time constraints.

  • Software Learning: Willingness to learn Dealworks, EQUIP, and Service Advisor (training available).
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to operate a forklift and drive a pickup truck.
  • Driving Requirements: Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per company policy.
  • Work Ethic: Willing to work hard, enjoy the atmosphere, and do whatever it takes for the company and customers.
  • Focus: Must limit time on personal cell phone; focus on the job and the customer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mobility: Extended periods of standing, sitting, and walking. Occasional periods of driving.
  • Physical Activity: Some climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, squatting, twisting, pulling, and pushing as required by tasks.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift, manipulate, and move items repeatedly, up to 50 pounds.
  • Handling Parts: Not afraid to get a little dirty from handling parts.
  • Office Equipment Operation: Operation of a personal computer and other office equipment.
  • Availability: Available to work extended hours during the week and weekends on a rotation or when needed (as required by location).

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • PPE Provided: All required PPE is provided by Martin Equipment, including protective safety glasses, gloves, and boots.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work Locations: Most work is performed at a desk, within inventory space, and in the shipping/receiving area.
  • Exposure: Intermittent exposure to shop environment including dirt, dust, heat, cold, fumes, noise, grease, vibration, and chemicals.
  • Weather Conditions: Intermittent exposure to hot and cold weather conditions.
