The Role

We are seeking a seasoned Partner to help lead our US practice. You will work closely with the Managing Director – Americas, handling similar responsibilities and taking on client-facing roles. This position is ideal for a business-savvy legal professional eager to work with international founders, investors, and innovators, providing strategic and technical legal counsel. We are open to candidates based in major US metros who can work independently and are open to occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead our US practice, collaborating with colleagues across APAC and EMEA who have driven legal support for rapidly growing ventures.
• Act as a trusted legal and strategic advisor to investors, entrepreneurs, and tech companies in areas like corporate transactions, M&A, regulatory compliance, venture capital, debt financing, and complex commercial agreements.
• Drive business development in the US through your network, engagement in the start-up community, and strategic planning for client growth.
• Mentor and grow a team of talented lawyers servicing core solutions: Corporate, Commercial, Cyber & Data Privacy, Litigation, IP Protection, and Financing.
• Develop creative solutions to client challenges, fostering growth across technology law sectors.
• Serve as external General Counsel for select clients, advising on capital raises, HR structuring, and corporate governance.
• Manage key client relationships and take ownership of significant matters.
• Guide tech innovators to achieve their objectives with pragmatic legal advice.
• Engage in complex problem-solving, proactively delivering results.
• Build productive internal and external relationships.
• Provide actionable legal advice, promoting collaboration within our global team.

Qualifications

• 10+ years PQE as a US-qualified lawyer/attorney with a generalist background and deep expertise in areas like Corporate, Commercial, Cyber & Data Privacy, IP, or Financing.
• Preferred: dual qualification in another jurisdiction, experience in top-tier or boutique law firms, in-house roles, and a strong professional network.
• Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and resourcefulness.
• Ability to understand and incorporate emerging technologies, especially AI, into legal practice.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of connecting with startup founders and C-suite executives.
• Creative problem-solver, pragmatic, and able to develop strategies with incomplete information.
• Self-starter, independent worker, and results-driven.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Pioneering spirit to help establish our US presence.

Additional Information

• Our MD is based in Charlottesville VA; the US team is primarily on the East Coast. Remote work at Partner level is possible, with some travel required.
