We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Construction Expert Witness to join our Forensics, Valuation & Litigation Support (FVLS) practice at the Managing Director or Partner level. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, engineering, and/or project management, with significant experience in providing expert witness testimony. This role requires a blend of technical acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.

At DLA, our FVLS practice produces results that go beyond what our clients require by adopting best practices for engagements that combine financial, accounting, advisory, investigative, and valuation services across a wide range of industries, working with both large and small firms.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Help lead the growth of the FVLS practice by developing and implementing strategic and tactical plans in accordance with DLA's mission and vision and the commitment to always act as a trusted partner to our clients.
  2. Elevate the DLA brand by demonstrating thought leadership and embracing our marketing and sales programs.
  3. Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with the goal of expanding the DLA brand in acquiring new clients, engagements, and revenue for the Firm.
  4. Lead and manage multiple concurrent engagements within the FVLS practice involving construction dispute litigation support services, including forensic accounting, financial analysis, expert testimony, and other related services.
  5. Collaborate with clients, attorneys, and other stakeholders to provide expert advice and insights on complex financial issues and disputes.
  6. Provide strategic guidance to clients on financial and accounting matters in litigation and disputes.
  7. Manage client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.
  8. Provide expert witness testimony in construction-related disputes, including depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  9. Conduct detailed forensic analysis of construction projects, including cost overruns, delays, defects, and compliance with industry standards.
  10. Prepare comprehensive expert reports, presentations, and exhibits to support litigation and dispute resolution efforts.
  11. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure the highest level of expertise and credibility.
  12. Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff and contribute to the overall growth and success of the FVLS practice.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  2. Professional certification(s) such as PE, AIA, PMP, or similar.
  3. Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, or project management.
  4. Proven track record as an expert witness in construction disputes, with experience in providing testimony.
  5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  8. Willingness to travel as required for case-related activities.
