The Role

This individual will be responsible for developing new relationships and managing accounts of a16z limited partners (“LPs”) in a primary geography. The role also involves aligning with one or more of a16z’s vertical funds—e.g., Seed, Venture, Crypto, Bio+Health, Games, Growth.

The a16z Investor Relations (“IR”) team is dedicated to providing an outstanding client experience for our LPs. The individual will report to the Director, Investor Relations, Product & Strategy, and collaborate with investment professionals, operating groups, finance, legal, and compliance teams to coordinate capital formation and investor relations activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a strategic and flawless experience for our LPs at every touchpoint
• Develop and prioritize new LP relationships
• Innovate in maintaining and enhancing existing LP relationships through reporting and IR events
• Maintain and strengthen existing LP relationships
• Create financial analyses to support investor communications
• Research market intelligence and industry trends
• Organize and oversee reporting and communication activities
• Use data to provide insights on portfolios and industry trends
• Inform firm leadership about investor developments and market changes
• Collaborate with Strategy Planning & Analytics to build dashboards on fund and investment performance
• Manage and analyze data from the firm’s portfolio database
• Respond to LP data inquiries and manage due diligence processes
• Leverage data for portfolio and industry insights
• Assist in preparing content for LP communications
• Build dashboards with key insights on fund performance and exit scenarios
• Analyze portfolio data to draw actionable insights

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• At least 8 years of work experience, including 2+ years in business development or fundraising
• Experience in investor relations within private equity, venture capital, or investment banking
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field; MBA or certifications (CFA, CIRI) are a plus
• Strong relationship-building skills with high-level stakeholders
• Ability to analyze market and industry data for strategic insights
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
• Attention to detail and strong written communication skills

The salary range for this role is $253,000-$295,000, with actual pay based on experience and skills. Benefits include health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K, paid leave, and participation in the a16z Carry and bonus programs.
