Job summary

Mercor seeks a Particle & Nuclear Physics Expert to design graduate-level computational problems that use real scientific software to solve research-level tasks.

You will craft problem setups, run simulations, interpret results, and iterate designs based on AI model performance in a Linux environment, 15–20 hours per week.

Preference for MS/PhD and hands-on experience with scikit-hep; strong Python and independent work required.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level training in STEM (MS, PhD or equivalent research experience).
• Proven proficiency with at least one scientific software library in the domain (scikit-hep, etc.).
• Strong Python skills for problem setups, validators, and experiments.

Responsibilities

• Design graduate-level problems using real workflows and test them against AI models.
• Refine problems to hit target difficulty through systematic analysis and iteration.
• Work in Linux/terminal environments with remote compute sandboxes.
