Job summary

Oiron Project Services in North Chicago, IL is seeking a Chemist II/Material Scientist to perform particle characterization for pharmaceutical products. The role is 100% onsite, Mon-Fri, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, on a 1-year contract with possible extension.

Candidates will use LO, DLS, LD, flow imaging, microscopy, FTIR/Raman, and SEM/EDX to generate precise data and ensure regulatory-compliant documentation. Qualified candidates hold a BS with lab experience or a MS with more experience, and have

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Chemistry, Material Science, Pharmaceutical sciences or related field with min 5 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred) or master’s with min 2 yrs lab experience (pharma preferred).
• Experience in particulate matter characterization in pharma/biotech environments.
• Experience with instruments for visible and sub-visible particle characterization.
• Familiarity with lyophilized or spray dried products; peptide, lipid or mRNA work a plus.
• Strong documentation, problem solving, and ability to present data clearly.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute particle characterization tasks using standard procedures and technical methods.
• Generate precise, reliable data and document experiments per regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate precision and data interpretation; collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ensure safety compliance and timely delivery of high-quality data.
• Apply computer skills for word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument systems.
• Present findings to larger audiences and stakeholders.
