Job summary

Theuniversityunion’s Blount County Library in Maryville, TN seeks a Part-Time Youth Services Specialist to deliver high-quality service and help patrons access library resources. This 29-hour weekly role involves assisting with the catalog, self-checkout, storytimes, and literacy programs.

The position includes outreach to schools and community events, plus programming for ages 0 months–18 years and teen-room supervision. Requires one year experience or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficient knowledge of library organization, resources, and systems.
• Speak and write using current grammar rules and punctuation.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with questions and finding materials using catalog, databases, and online resources.
• Help patrons check out materials at the self-checkout unit.
• Plan storytimes and prepare crafts and activities for ages 0 months to 18 years.
• Participate in outreach events at preschools, daycares, schools, and community events.
• Coordinate with PR to create flyers, brochures, social posts, and press releases.
• Develop and implement STEAM, LEGO, arts and crafts, and book club programs.
