Job summary

The Salvation Army Midland Division Corps in Springfield, Missouri, seeks an individual to support after-school and day camp programs. You will tutor children, supervise activities, and help with cleaning and organizing program areas while upholding The Salvation Army mission.

This part-time role offers a 24‑hour work week with a starting pay of $15.00 per hour, located at 1707 W Chestnut Expy, Springfield. Prior youth activity experience and CPR/First Aid certification are valued assets.

Qualifications

• Experience with youth activities desirable.
• Able to read and write well; basic verbal communication with children and staff.
• Must be ARC CPR/First Aid certified; valid driver’s license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise members and visitors during activities in the community center.
• Enforce rules as necessary.
• Supervise and participate in all facets of programs (recreation, snacks, crafts, field trips).
• Mediate disputes among participants with sensitivity to all parties.
• Tutor children on their homework.
• Clean eating, work and play areas before and after activities.
• Assist in other youth activities as needed.
• Answer phone and take messages as necessary.
• Help plan, schedule, and conduct program activities.
• Maintain supplies and equipment; train participants in games and equipment usage.
• Submit daily statistical reports.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow Safe From Harm guidelines.
