Northampton Community College is seeking a part-time Writing Tutor for the Pocono Campus in Tannersville, PA. Tutors support student success by applying personalized approaches to help students grasp course material, develop study strategies, think critically, and achieve educational goals on campus or online.

The role includes CRLA training with certification within one year, regular staff participation, and maintaining accurate records. Approx. 10–25 hours weekly with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of the subject(s) they will tutor.
• An Associate degree or above in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• A grade of B or above in each course the candidate intends to tutor.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, an interest in working with a diverse population of students, patience, and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed.
• Previous experience as a peer or professional tutor is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students individually or in small groups to deepen understanding and develop learning strategies.
• Participate in CRLA training and aim for certification within one year.
• Attend staff meetings and engage in ongoing professional development activities.
• Maintain complete and accurate records and respond promptly to correspondence.
• Other related duties as assigned.
