Job summary

Aspire Indiana Health, Inc. is seeking a part-time Emergency Shelter Contract Worker to support residents at the Indianapolis Winter Contingency Shelter sites. The role focuses on compassionate engagement, safety, and efficient shelter operations during scheduled shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate/bachelor preferred in related fields.
• Experience in shelter or social services with diverse populations is essential.
• Strong communication and crisis de-escalation skills are needed.
• Must pass background checks and provide proof of insurance where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Engage residents through trauma-informed rounds and provide supportive, respectful interaction.
• Link residents to health, behavioral health, and social services; process ROIs as needed.
• Enforce shelter policies with sensitivity and document compliance.
• Handle intake, sign-in/out, and orientation; track necessary documents.
• Conduct safety checks, report hazards, and assist with inventory and meal logistics.
• Document resident data, complete shift logs, and communicate progress to leadership.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality and manage time-tracking for shifts.
