Virginia Veterinary Specialty & Emergency is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) for a part-time weekend ER role in Charlottesville, VA. The position focuses on emergency medicine, with opportunities to cross-train in specialty services alongside board-certified specialists and skilled professionals.

You will perform advanced nursing tasks, assist in anesthesia and emergency procedures, and educate clients while maintaining a compassionate, team-driven ER environment.

Qualifications

• AAS in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program.
• Active Virginia Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced veterinary nursing including restraint, postop care, catheter placement, wound management, bandaging.
• Assist veterinarians in emergency procedures, anesthesia, surgical prep, monitoring, and recovery care.
• Provide emergency care such as CPR, fluid therapy, oxygen administration, and transfusions.
• Conduct diagnostic and lab testing: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, serology.
• Operate diagnostic equipment: blood pressure monitors, ECG, pulse oximetry, imaging systems.
• Triage patients and document condition and treatment.
• Educate clients on care, treatments, and follow-up needs.
• Maintain a safe, clean ER environment.
• Collaborate with a team that values communication and teamwork.

At Virginia Veterinary Specialty & Emergency, we provide 24/7 advanced care for pets, and we're seeking a dedicated LVT to join our ER Team. This is your opportunity to work with a team of specialists, grow your clinical skills, and make a difference for pets and their families when they need it most.

Schedule

• Part-Time schedule: Weekends 7AM - 7PM or 11 AM - 11 PM
• Dedicated to emergency medicine
• Opportunities for cross-training in specialty services such as surgery, internal medicine, and more
• Work with board-certified specialists and highly trained veterinary professionals

What You'll Do

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

• Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program
• Active Virginia Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) license in good standing

Experience 2+ years in emergency veterinary medicine preferred

• Physically able to lift 40+ lbs (with assistance) and remain on feet for extended shifts
• Proficiency in emergency triage, patient care, diagnostic procedures, and client education
