Job summary

The City of Fort Lupton is seeking a diligent janitor to maintain City facilities and public areas. You will perform interior cleaning, exterior maintenance, and basic grounds duties, including snow removal, while ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities include floor care, trash removal, restocking supplies, and minor repairs as needed. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with a valid driver's license and relevant safety certifications within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform interior custodial duties (mopping, dusting, vacuuming).
• Polish, buff, strip and wax floors with mechanical cleaners and shampoo carpets.
• Exterior custodial duties including snow removal and litter pickup.
• Dispose of waste and keep areas clean and safe; restock supplies.
• Disinfect fixtures and surfaces in kitchens, bathrooms and gym areas.
• Move furniture and assist in basic maintenance tasks as directed.
• Observe safety practices and read MSDS for chemical use.

Summary

Interviews will be conducted while job is posted. Performs standard, interior and exterior janitorial/minor maintenance duties involving cleaning and disinfecting City facilities and public domains and performs lawn attendance and other grounds keeping duties, including snow removal.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform interior custodial duties involving mopping, dusting and vacuuming.
• Use mechanical floor cleaners to polish, buff, strip and wax floors, and vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Perform exterior custodial/maintenance duties including snow removal and picking up litter.
• Remove waste and soiled linens from work area and gathers and disposes of trash and waste, some which may contain hazardous materials.
• Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls, including those in kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, locker rooms, and weight rooms.
• Restock supplies.
• Moves, removes and relocates furniture, furnishings, equipment, etc., as directed.
• Order supplies and equipment repairs, as authorized by supervisor.
• Observe all common safety practices.
• May perform minor maintenance repair such as unstopping toilets and sinks, and replacing burned out light bulbs.
• May patch and paint walls.
• May operate scissor lift.
• May assist in training and checking the work of other employees.
• Ability to read and interpret chemical instructions and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Qualifications And Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Graduation from high school or a GED certificate, preferred.

Licensure And/Or Certification

Must have valid Class R Driver's License.

CPR or attainable within 90 days from date of hire.

First Aid or attainable within 90 days from date of hire.

AED or attainable within 90 days from date of hire.
